The traditional ritual of the Muslims is that in the marriage women and men sit separately. The major role in the wedding will be played by the Walis who is the father of the bride and that of the bridegroom. The Maulvi will actually say out some of the quran verses and after Ijab-e-qubul the Nikaah is considered to be completed. In this basically the groom proposes and the bride will give her acceptance.

The amount of Mahr is decided by the senior members of the two families and this is the amount that is given by the groom's family to the bride. To register the marriage Nikahnama is signed by the groom, bride, walis as well as Maulvi and this is compulsory and this gives a legal standing. This document will comprise terms as well as conditions which need to be respected by both the parties and this will also comprise the right to divorce.The next part of the wedding will include receiving blessings from the senior members of the family through offering salam.

One more ritual on the day of the wedding will be Aarsimashaf. The dinner in the Muslim Wedding (Nikah) is lavish, dine will be done by the men and women separately. Once the dinner is done the bride and the groom sits together for the first time. The head will be covered with dupatta and prayer will be read in the direction of Maulvi. Between the couples Quran will be placed and they will be allowed to see each other with the help of mirrors.
